This Week in Politics: Wiki Leaks and Federal Pay Freeze

So to horrified to turn on the news, in fear that almost every foreign country is pointing their missles at us? Dont worry, I am too. I think everyone is after WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and his team of virgin, acne ridden hackers, have released 251,287 "cables" (basically fancy talk for an encrypted email). These cables included matters that were confidential, and included subjects such as, Personality Profiles of Foreign Leaders, Updates on Ongoing Secret Missions, Details of Past Operations and nonsense like that. Now WikiLeaks defends this by saying that the people have a right to "transperancy"...COME THE FUCK ON, REALLY? REALLY? Now im all for our government not keeping secrets on matters of coruption, campaign spending, casualties, elections and basic things that cant harm the average American. But were not talking about California Governer ex-nominee Meg Whitman spending 175 million dollars on her failed race against now Governer Jerry Brown. Were talking about matters of NATIONAL SECURITY, conversations that could now result in an endless amount of casualties. Now, Im pissed, and so is INTERPOL, today they issued an arrest warrant, but not for espionage, but on acts of Sex Crimes issued by Sweden. Whether he may or may not have actually stolen the information, he is in no doubt an accessory and a major douche.

On top of all of that, earlier this week, Barack Obama implemented a 2 year freeze on federal workers salaries. Yes you read that right, federal workers, including but not limited too: Veterans Nurses, The Guy who Mails Social Security Checks, People who Pick up Trash at National Parks. His reasoning "It will save 5 billion dollars in the first 2 years". Now thats not totally illogical, IF THE 2 MILLION CIVILIANS HE DID THIS TO, HAD TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SOMEWHERE TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR FAMILIES! But since the good majority of those people make lets say between 20-40 thousand dollars per year, im guessing that they dont. I honestly dont know what more to say, other than, IMPEACHMENT!!!! Once I vent out my frustration, of all this madness, there will be more to come.

The American Lifestyle

So The United States of America has been a country for 234 Years, 4 Months and 24 days (assuming im going by when the Delcaration of Independence was signed), and even though I obviously wasnt alive (assuming bhuddism is not real), I think I can safely say that the "American Lifestyle" has not only become the most narcissistic term used in the world, it also has (in my opinion) greatly fallen from something that was once admired around the world, to something that is hated and despised. With an unemployment rate of Roughly 9% which is horrible considering the global unemployment rate is roughly 6.6% (most updated report i could find). A median income per capita which is roughly 40,000, which isnt too bad, but i tend not to believe that number. And roughly 600,000 homeless at any given night. I think it is pretty safe to say the "American Lifestyle", once portrayed in the 50's as the lifestyle, is now portrayed as a horrible reality TV show. People use to flock over here by the thousands, just to have a chance, Now even if your born into America, you still dont get that chance (in some cases). Our cities are more polluted, more violent, and more inflated, I personally dont see that lifestyle anymore. Now I understand that we have more political freedoms (sarcastic), Civil liberties (SARCASTIC), and all around general human rights (again sarcastic), than most countries, I find it hard to be comfortable with those things, when the House and Senate, whipe their overprivleged asses with our constitution. Our housing market is dead, our daily news getting more and more depressing, small businesses are crumbling, and a stock market in the tubes, its hard to turn your head without seeing it for yourself. Even cities considered "recession proof" like New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Miami, are starting to see their despair. To sum it all up, I dont see much improvement atleast not in the time our wonderful "savior" Barack Obama, had predicted. And frankly that pisses me off. I know not the most informative post, today was more of a rant.

The US Drug Policy

Unlike the rest of the civilized world, we use a 5 catagory system instead of the standard "hard drugs" and "soft drugs" system, such as the Netherlands, England and much of the EU. Now before I get into my rant, I will say that I am a habitual marijuana smoker, and yes, I have done many other drugs, but am against them. Now back to our "drug control policy" which in my eyes and the majority of America, has failed miserably. So lets break it down:

Schedual 1- Is a drug with high potential for abuse and no medical value. In this catagory we have things like GHB, Heroin, MDMA and Cannabis, and actually other medicines used in cough suppressents that are legal around the world. Thats right folks, Cannabis is in the same ranks of date rape drugs, hallucinogens and opiates.

Schedual 2- A drug with high potential for abuse, but has medical value. Drugs like COCAINE (which they excuse as a topical anesthetic), Opium, Methadone (synethetic heroin), Amphetimines (used for ADHD). My big problem with this, is that more people have been killed by over the counter amphetimines, methadone, and cocain than by Cannabis. THEY ACTUALLY FIND COCAIN AND OPIUM SAFER THAN CANNABIS

Schedual 3- A drug with potential for abuse but less than schedual 1 and 2. Drugs like KETAMINE (date rape drug/vet anesthetic), and a whole list of synethetic opioids, hallucinogens and steriods.

Scheduals 4 and 5 are basically a list of things like Xanax and other dangerous perscription drugs. But they are totally legal and doctors, expecially in South Florida hand them out like candy. Now every catagory except schedual 1 are legal. That means they are finding things like Cocaine, LSA, Ketamine, Steroids, Opium, Synthetic heroin and synthetic meth safer than Cannabis! I dont want to go into statistics about arrest and deaths (which cannabis has caused 0 deaths), but I do want to say, I'm sickend by the amount of Justice Dept. resources, innocent patients going to jail, dispensaries being raided, for what!? I think that if we put Cannabis from a schedual 1 to lets say a 3 or 4, just so the government can tax it and commercially distribute it. Why should Ketamine and synthetic meth be legal and a cash cow for our government, while Cannabis which has legit medical value and is already legal in 14 states, be condoned as a "gateway drug" and the black sheep of all the wonderful plants that grows on the earth. Now like I said, I've done ALOT of drugs, and I see the reason most of them should be illegal, I've been more intoxicated by things like Xanax, Cocaine, and Oxycodone, than cannabis, I mean I smoke the stuff everyday before work, and I do just fine. If the policy continues to be the same, children will always find another drug to do. For example kids in high school are now "I-Dosing", basically they take high pitched, high bass rythems, download them on their I-Pods, put on their headphones and crank up the volume, it basically sends you into an auditory seizure (this i never have done, never will). Countries with a system mentioned earlier, defining the difference between "hard and soft drugs", have lower drug use among kids, lower drug related deaths, and they dont waste billions of dollars prosecuting teenagers for a gram of pot. To wrap it all up, something needs to be done about this, I know we have alot to worry about, what with a shit economy, 2 wars possibly a 3rd, but if we just passed 1 measly law, we could generate BILLIONS of dollars in tax revenue, enough to bail out the entire state of California and most of the US, and finally I wouldnt have to try and be so sneaky at concerts haha.

The American Government

Now if you know me personally, you should know I have a keen interest in politics and the American Governement. But recently, I have found our executive, legislative, and judicial branches to be a giant reality TV show. The constant struggle between who is in the lead whether it be Democrats or Republicans, has shown the rest of the world, that we cant even come together to solve internal issues, yet the better majority of our time and money goes to solving world-wide problems. Now I am all for helping those who are not fortunate enough to have the American life style (which will be discussed in a later post), but when we have 70 year old senators that dont know how to use email (yes, its true), our congress will make 70 year old decisions. Dont get me wrong, senators such as the late Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd, have given this country some of the best legislation we have seen in the past 3 decades. Bottom line is, times are changing, the average age for a law-maker in other countries are getting lower and we still nominate politicians that are practically on their death bed for president. Our current politicians, expecially those elected in the November elections, have lost base on what this country was founded on. They use the constitution as toilet paper, and could give a shit about civil liberties and political freedoms. Then they try to cover it up by offering "transperancy" with acts such as "The Freedom of Information Act", then contridict it with acts such as "The Patriot Act". If we want to see change, then we need to make it. In my eyes, laws, the economy are just ideas, that we let control our lives. Now I am aware that we need laws and the economy is the foundation of America, but why not just hit a reset button. Now this may seem hypocritical, but I say we propose a maximum age for legislators. Cause lets face it, the politicians that made the decisions back in Vietnam, Bosnia and our other failed wars, dont have what it takes to make this country prosper. I think that in less than 15 years, given America goes down the same path we are going down now, we will be a second-rate country or even a third world country. That may seem impossible to you, but we've seen it happen before. Russia used to be a huge world power, and still is, but something like half of the country lives like its 1890, and America is facing that same fate. It is virtually impossible for one person to make a change, expecially in politics, so my dream of small government, low taxes, more money going to infastructure and perserving the "American Dream" and less money going to social welfare programs like the "Section 8 Housing Program", "Universal Healthcare" and raising tariffs. We are so desperate at one point during the Bush administration we were going to sell 8 of our major international ports to the Saudi Arabians. Just to be clear we were going to sell our most vunerable points of entry to one of the most untrustworthy countries in the world. To wrap it up, I was once a die-hard lover of our government and a huge politics buff, but now i have lost ALL faith, not only in the people in charge, but our entire political system. But I will say, that America is the BEST country in the world, and I would never consider living anywhere else...yet. So this is going to wrap up my rant for this evening. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
